Last Wednesday I took Chloe to the vet. They determined that the torn ACL will not get better without surgery. So we scheduled the surgery for this coming Tuesday. On Monday she goes to the vet for a pre-op and stays overnight. Tuesday morning they due the surgery and I can take her home on Wednesday if all goes well. She won't be able to walk at all for two weeks, will have a soft cast and a lamp-shade on her head to keep her from chewing stitches. And she will have to be crated for the next eight weeks and will not be allowed to move around for much of those eight weeks.
So I am worried- about the long recovery period, about the surgery, just worried. I bought Chloe a new crate- one a full size bigger then her old one so she can lay on her side and stretch out (since she will not be able to bend her bad leg.) I will keep her going with a steady supply of watermelon when she gets back and I am praying everything goes well.
Chloe asks that you keep fingers and paws crossed for her too.
Meanwhile I am currently working on a swap project so I can't show it (sorry- I know- again). And other then that I haven't been knitting much. So I am going to distract you with pretty pictures of sock yarn
Yes more sock yarn- Let's start with the yellow. That is "Lemon Chiffon" from Sundara- it is so gorgeous and happy that it makes me smile to even look at it. It is the perfect shade of pale yellow, which is my favorite color ever. Not sure that I will ever even knit that yarn. I just might keep it around to look at and smile at during the long Ohio winters.
The next skein over is a greenish-bluish blend from the Sockatopia Plus yarn club (its on etsy- YarnAddict is the name I think- the woman's name is Anni) the sock yarn comes with a pattern- and I have to say the pattern is super-nice, baby cables and stuff. Can't wait to knit with it- the blend is merino and polymide and it has the nicest, softest hand. I signed up for the 3 month fall sock club. I liked the yarn and patterns she had on-line and found the price reasonable. She also has a lace club and has some seriously nice lace yarn.
And the other two colors are the mythical, fabled, impossible to find in the wild Wollmeise. The red is "Wilder Morn" and the blue is "Rittersporn" and the yarn is incredible. Dense, saturated with color and totally worth the insane shipping from Germany that I paid for. Will buy more- hopefully lots more at some point, but as you know the Wollmeise updates are insane and hard to deal with. But I love. And I doubt it will ever be socks. I'm thinking a spectacular scarf or small shawl for the red. The blue might becomes socks- but I have to find a pattern that will be worthy. Few I think, are worthy.
Finally to round out all my crazy purchases lately- my stuff from Japan came. Not just any stuff from Japan, but an awesome doily book.
As some of you know, I have a deep and passionate love for Japanese doily books. The doilies tend to be unfussy and they chart everything.
Everybody's getting doilies this Christmas-- Watch out!!!
And finally, I got my tiny little Japanese crochet hooks. These are Raku Raku hooks and they are kinda cool. They are double- ended steel hooks for lace crochet and the best thing about them are the little soft handle grips.
The hardest thing for me in crocheting doilies is the teeny hook. Not actually crocheting with them, but that my hand just wears out gripping the tiny things. I had heard of the Raku Raku hooks and they intrigued me, so I am gonna try my hand at a doily and see what happens. I also want to try the Addi and Clover soft-touch steel hooks because both of those also have a handle to hold on to- but they are hard to find.
Okay enough for now. Onwards and upwards. Keep Chloe (and her nervous mommy) in your thoughts this week. Will post again post-operation.
