I left the dark side.....
I made a huge life change today.
I bought a Mac.
This was not supposed to happen. My old Dell computer has been repaired multiple times, and yesterday morning it just refused to turn on. I would press the button, and nothing. Nothing. Angry and panicked I called my university's OIT people. They told me since the power source has been replaced twice now, that repair would not take care of the problem, and that it was time to get a new computer. I freaked out and then marched myself over to the financial aid office. The financial aid lady bailed me out, and processed a request for loan money needed for a new computer.
So today I went and bought the new computer, as I cannot wait due to the amount of work I need to do. OIT will be taking everything off my old hard drive so I can transfer it to the new computer. (That is Monday's project) and then life should settle back to normal.
So why a mac? I have not used an Apple computer in eons, but a lot of my friends were going over to Macs and have been very happy with them. I have also heard dubious things about Vista, and frankly, I had been thinking about making the switch for a while. Of course I had not expected to make the switch now, but I figured I might as well since I needed a new machine.
So as the Mac guy told me "Congrats on leaving the dark side."
I have to say, it is a sexy little computer. All sleek and white.... I have never had a "sexy" computer before... so we shall see how it goes.

Yay! I'm so glad you finally hopefully have a reliable piece of equipment. You need and deserve it.
That is one sexy computer too. I love them myself, one day when I actually need a laptop, its what I'll buy.

Congrats on the Mac! I've used them for years and would never have a PC at home. Enjoy your sexy laptop, I sure love mine ;)
